Sun spots treated with IPL can take 1 – 2 weeks to see a difference. Over the first week you will see a break up or “coffee ground” like substance where the sun spot once was. Gradually over the next week or two, pigment gradually separates. One needs 4 – 6 treatments to reduce the pigmentation sufficiently. Sun exposure should be avoided 4 weeks before and then for the following 4 weeks after treatments. One treatment will make a minimal difference so a course of 4–6 sessions is required.
A sunblock that has UVA and UVB filters should be applied. Vitamin A long-term use will enable skin to function optimally.
Once treatment is applied it is vital that there is no direct sun exposure as hyper-pigmentation will occur.
A combination of IPL, peels and needling can be very effective for excellent results.
